Is your Pakistani business ready to stop competing only locally and start winning globally? The barrier to entry for international markets isn’t always your product quality; it’s your credentials.

For thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan, the cost of obtaining prestigious, international certifications like ISO, HACCP, or Halal has been the biggest roadblock to exporting. SMEDA (Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority) is now knocking that roadblock down.

In a powerful move to boost national exports, SMEDA has announced the **SME Certification & International Accreditation Grant Program for 2024-25.** This isn’t just a government initiative; it’s a direct strategic investment in your company’s future.

The Problem: When Quality Alone Isn’t Enough

Imagine having a phenomenal manufacturing process or a unique food product, but being blocked by a massive European or American retailer because your facility is not ISO 9001 (Quality Management) or HACCP (Food Safety) certified. This is the reality for many Pakistani businesses. These certifications are no longer “optional extras”; they are global business prerequisites.

The SMEDA Solution: We’ll Pick Up 70% of the Check

The cost of certification can be high. As detailed in SMEDA’s official price list reference, basic standard certifications can start from PKR 160,000 for minimums, while sector-specific ones like Halal (up to 400k) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP up to 460k) go significantly higher. For high-level standards like BRC or Organic, costs can exceed PKR 1 Million.

This new grant program directly addresses this pain point by offering a 70% matching grant.

This is what this means in real money:

For Certification Costs: SMEDA will cover 70% of the cost, up to a maximum grant of PKR 800,000.

For Related Consultancy: SMEDA will cover 70% of the cost, up to a maximum grant of PKR 200,000.

You only have to provide the remaining 30%. This makes high-ticket certifications, like those listed here suddenly affordable for growing businesses.

Are You Eligible? Yes, if you:

The eligibility criteria, outlined in detail on SMEDA’s website and newspaper announcements, are designed to support genuine, formal SMEs ready for growth. The key requirements are:

  1. Be a registered business with a valid NTN and be on the Active Taxpayers List (ATL).
  2. Fall within the National SME Policy 2021 definition: Annual sales turnover up to PKR 800 million.
  3. Be a formal SME: have a valid registration number.
  4. Have an active Business Bank Account. All grant funds are reimbursed through this account.
  5. Have an ownership stake in the business.

(Note: Applicants must not have received another government certification grant in the same financial year, 2024-25 or later. The business must have been operational for at least 5 years as per some public notices.)

This is a Race: First-Come, First-Served Across All Regions!

Do not wait. This program is being executed on a strict First-Come, First-Served basis. To ensure national representation, the grant is distributed across 07 regions of Pakistan: Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan. The number of slots is limited per region.

Wait – What if I just got certified? If you obtained an eligible certification against a standard on or after July 01, 2024, and it remains valid for at least six months from your application date, you can still apply!
